REMEDY TREE RELEASES “TRAIN TO FOLKSTON” - Haunting New Single Opens the Door to Forthcoming Album Stay in the Light

Fancy Gap, VA (October 7, 2026) – Remedy Tree kicks off a new chapter with “Train to Folkston,” the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, Stay in the Light. Co-written by Adam Haynes and Gabriel Acevedo, the song is rooted in Southern storytelling and acoustic tradition, weaving a haunting tale of love, loss, and the strange and beautiful ways nature can carry a memory.

“Train to Folkston” tells the story of a man who loses the woman he loves along the Charlton County line. With an acorn placed in her hand, she is laid to rest, and from her grave a tree eventually grows. Years later, when the wind moves through its branches, the tree seems to cry out each time the train rolls south toward Folkston. It’s a tragic yet beautifully strange story where heartbreak takes root and becomes something living, turning a lost love into a permanent part of the landscape. The tree becomes a living landmark, quietly standing watch as the years pass and the train continues its journey south. Filled with Southern imagery, atmospheric storytelling, and emotional depth, “Train to Folkston” feels like the kind of story that could have been passed down for generations.

For Gabriel Acevedo, the song grew out of the unexpected inspiration that can come from an impromptu writing session.

“I love what a spur-of-the-moment writing session can create. I’ve always been fascinated with the thought of what an old tree has witnessed. There’s a magic underneath a several-hundred-year-old oak tree that can’t be fully explained. I think ‘Train to Folkston’ captures that feeling,” says Acevedo.

Haynes adds, “Two writers, one idea, and a few hours of imagination—that’s the magic of a songwriter workshop. Somehow, an acorn became a tree, and a story became a song. Great job giving this song life!”

The new single features Gabriel Acevedo on lead vocals and guitar, Abigail Acevedo on bass and harmony vocals, Nathan Beaumont on mandolin and harmony vocals, Isaac Taylor on banjo, and Jeff Partin on dobro.

“Train to Folkston” offers a first glimpse into Stay in the Light, Remedy Tree’s brand-new forthcoming album. Known for bringing together roots music, thoughtful songwriting, and compelling harmonies, the band continues to explore the space where traditional acoustic music meets contemporary folk storytelling.
