Carolyne Van Lierop Boone

Carolyne Van Lierop Boone has been picking the banjo since she was a girl, building a life in bluegrass that began in the Florida Panhandle and eventually carried her to the heart of the music in East Tennessee. Inspired by a Lewis Family performance she saw as a child, Carolyne quickly fell in love with the banjo. In 2002, her grandfather, a Florida sheriff and musician, brought her into his family band, The Sheriff’s Posse. She later formed The Rivertown Girls with her cousins, becoming a familiar face on festival stages throughout Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

After performing with Big River Bluegrass Band, Carolyne joined forces with Amanda Cook, becoming a founding member of the Amanda Cook Band and a longtime musical collaborator and friend. The two also co-wrote the title track to Amanda’s 2017 album, Deep Water. Carolyne was named a Daughter of Bluegrass in 2017, recognizing her contributions as a female musician in the genre.

Today, Carolyne brings her distinctive combination of precision, drive, and musical instinct to the Amanda Cook Band, where she anchors the group with banjo and harmony vocals. Her playing has been described as “distinctly precise and driving,” but it’s her ability to blend power with musical sensitivity that makes her such an important part of the band’s sound. Based in Johnson City, Tennessee, Carolyne continues to tour, record, and carry forward the bluegrass tradition that first captured her imagination as a child.

Fancy Gap, VA (September 28, 2026) - Mountain Fever Records is proud to announce the signing of Carolyne Van Lierop Boone, best known to many bluegrass fans as the banjo player and founding member of the Amanda Cook Band. With this new chapter, Carolyne steps into the spotlight as a solo artist and songwriter with a forthcoming album that showcases another side of her musical voice.

A talented banjo player, vocalist, and accomplished songwriter, Carolyne has spent years performing alongside Amanda Cook and building a reputation for her thoughtful musicianship and natural storytelling. Her songwriting brings an honest, personal perspective to her music, and her upcoming album gives those songs a place alongside carefully chosen material from some of the finest writers in bluegrass and acoustic music.

The forthcoming project is a wonderful mix of Carolyne’s original songs and songs she connected with and felt compelled to record. Together, they create a collection that reflects both her growth as a songwriter and the musical influences that have shaped her along the way.
