Mountain Fever Records Presents The David Mayfield Parade with “Wired to Break”

Fancy Gap, VA (October 2, 2026) - Mountain Fever Records is excited to announce, “Wired to Break,” the first single from The David Mayfield Parade’s forthcoming album, Follow by Example. With its catchy energy and sharp sense of humor, the song takes a lighthearted look at something most of us have experienced at one time or another: knowing perfectly well that we’re doing something we shouldn’t be doing and doing it anyway.

Written from the perspective of someone who recognizes their own bad habits but somehow keeps going back for more, “Wired to Break” explores self-sabotage, doom scrolling, and that frustratingly human ability to recognize a destructive pattern while actively participating in it.

David Mayfield puts it pretty simply: “This one’s about my uncanny ability to touch the hot stove after I’ve already been burned. I know better. I just apparently enjoy collecting evidence.”

There’s a little truth, and probably a little too much familiarity, in that statement. “Wired to Break” doesn’t take itself too seriously, but underneath the humor is an honest look at the habits, impulses and choices that can keep us stuck in our own cycles. Sometimes you know exactly what you’re doing. You just keep doing it anyway.

The David Mayfield Parade brings that same combination of musicianship and personality to the recording, with David Mayfield on lead vocals and guitar, Steven Moore on banjo and harmony vocals, Ryan Wallen on dobro and harmony vocals, Keith Wallen on mandolin, and Graham Bell on bass. The album was produced and engineered by The David Mayfield Parade and mastered by David Mayfield at BluegrassMastering.com.

“Wired to Break” is the first taste of Follow by Example, an album that promises plenty of the musical spirit, humor and individuality that listeners have come to expect from The David Mayfield Parade.

Sometimes the best way to deal with your bad decisions is to turn them into a song.

“Wired to Break is available on all digital platforms today.  For more information on The David Mayfield Parade please visit davidmayfieldparade.com.  For media and radio information please contact amanda@mountainfever.com.
