Written by acclaimed songwriter Sonny Tackett, the song holds a special place in Cook’s musical journey and reflects her desire to breathe new life into a timeless piece of bluegrass songwriting while introducing it to a new generation of listeners.

Sizemore himself recently heard Cook’s interpretation and offered high praise for her recording. “Wow, I just heard Amanda Cook’s version of ‘Down in the Quarter,’ and that song could have been written for her. I’ve always loved this song, and I have to say, Amanda’s version is better than mine. Hers is the definitive recording of it. I only wish Tommy Overstreet were still with us. He had the first recording of the song, and I’m sure he would have loved Amanda’s version, too.”

Joining Cook on the recording is an accomplished group of musicians who bring their own distinctive talents to the track. Amanda Cook handles lead vocals, with Carolyne Van Lierop Boone on banjo and harmony vocals, Troy Boone on mandolin and harmony vocals, Justin Alexander on guitar, George Mason on fiddle, and Joshua Faul on bass.
