Hammertowne is a mainsteam bluegrass band from eastern Kentucky. They formed in 2012 as a result of a studio session for now member Scott Tackett’s solo project. Most of the band was playing with other artists at the time and decided to record some songs together. The band mates began filling in dates for Tackett, and they officially formed, under a full schedule capacity in 2013. The group signed with Mountain Fever Records in late 2012 and released their first self titled project in April 2013. Since then, they have released Hillbilly Heroes (2017), Pictures (2019), and You Can Learn a Lot from a Song (2023). The band used inspiration from artists within the band and lyricists in the community for the creation of their original songs.
Hammertowne consists of Dave Carroll on guitar and vocals, Chaston Carroll on mandolin and vocals, Bryan Russell on bass and vocals, Scott Tackett on guitar and vocals, and Daniel Norton on dobro and vocals.
In 2013, Hammertowne was awarded The Band on the Rise Award by National Bluegrass Promotions. They have had multiple songs reach #1 on Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Today, and the Roots Music Report.
