Colin and Kathleen Ray, a husband-and-wife duo whose heartfelt vocals, tight harmonies, and instrumental artistry have already distinguished them in the roots and bluegrass community.
Meeting while studying Bluegrass music at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Colin and Kathleen quickly found both musical and personal harmony. Their journeys have since woven through acclaimed groups including The Burnett Sisters Band, Strictly Strings, Jeff Parker and Company, and even performances with Dailey and Vincent. Together, their sound blends tradition with freshness, rooted deeply in the music they grew up with.
Kathleen, raised in a family where fiddle tunes were a daily soundtrack, was a key member of both Strictly Strings and The Burnett Sisters Band, contributing to multiple recordings. Colin, who began playing music at just six years old, has performed in a wide range of settings—from duet work with Jeff Parker to touring opportunities with leading bluegrass acts.
After marrying in 2021 and settling in Colin’s hometown of Lincolnton, North Carolina, the Rays took time to focus on careers outside of music, while still sharing their talents locally. In 2024, they announced their long-anticipated return to the stage, setting plans in motion for new recordings and a full-length album scheduled for release on Mountain Fever Records in 2026.
